Uzlissia

Uzlissia is the edge of the forest, and this canvas is my icon of childhood: hills, steppe, horses, the whole world I grew up inside. I painted it the way an embroidered rushnyk is made, or a fresco, or a stained-glass window — flat colour held together by raised gold contours. The collection takes its name from this painting.
